Ruben Gomez is the head chef of The Juicy Pig. He was raised in El Paso, Texas, where he became inspired to cook by his mother and Julia Child. He was originally an art teacher after graduating from the University of Texas, but was drawn back to cooking. He graduated from the California Culinary Academy in 1998, having worked in the industry for seventeen years prior. Ruben likes to incorporate many flavors into his cooking, including Italian, French, Mexican, and American cuisine, and keeps his dishes simple with a focus on local ingredients. He feels it is important that a menu can be enjoyed by everyone.
